The Bittersweet (Solanum dulcamara) is a species of plant in the Solanaceae family.
Also called the Woody Nightshade, this species is widespread in most of Britain, but rare in Scotland. Flowering from June till September, this species has purple/pink and yellow flowers. Berries red. Found in a range of habitats, and the specimen depicted was found on a shingle beach.
