The Eagle Ray (Myliobatis aquilla) can grow to over 600lb.
Identification[]
This large sting ray has a small dorsal fin just in front of the tail spine, but well clear of the disc edge and a long whip like tail. Wings are acutely pointed, the front edge being convex, the hind margin being concave. The snout is distinct from the disc with the eyes and spiracles being almost lateral in position. Colour : Black upper, white lower. Breeding: They are livebairers but are unlikely to breed in our waters.

Frequent but uncommon Autumn visitor to the west Coast of the UK.
