The Apple Leaf Miner (Lyonetia clerkella) is a species of moth in the Lyo
netiidae family.
This tiny moth, which has a wingspan of about 8mm, if not less, is common throughout Britain, and feeds of a selection of fruit trees, including apples, hence the name. There are at least two generations in Britain, and the later generations will hibernate. The adults fly at night, and will be attracted to light.
The very long, obviously segmented larvae is distinctive
