Map-winged Swift ~ Ian Kimber
The Map-winged Swift (Hepialus fusconebulosa) is a species of moth in the Hepialidae family.
This species is local in Britain, inhabiting moorlands and woodlands. This species has a distinctive markings on the forewing, which are map-like, hence the name. This species has brown, grey and black markings, which vary on each moth. Like in most moths, the female is larger and can reach 3cm in length. The form gallicus is found throughout the range, and is poorly marked.
