The Ramshorn
The Ramshorn (Planorbis planorbis) is a common and widespread species of pond snail. Much smaller than it's relative the Great Ramshorn, the Ramshorn's shell will have a diameter of around 12mm
This species lives in ponds, rivers and lakes throughout Britian, but can also cope with stagnant conditions. This species grazes on algea which coats water plants.
