Small Seraphim - K.Noble
The Small Seraphim (Pterapherapteryx sexalata) is a moth of the family Geometridae. It is found in Europe.
Distributed mainly in the south and east of England, it also occurs locally in a few scattered places elsewhere in Britain.
In southern England there are usually two generations, flying in May and June, and then in July and August; otherwise there is just one brood appearing in June and July.
The preferred habitats are woodland, hedgerows, fens and similar marshy places.
Sallow (Salix) is the larval foodplant, the caterpillars feeding in the autumn.
The wingspan is 22–26 mm. The moth flies from May to August depending on the location.
The larvae feed on Willow.
