Hoplia philanthus is a species of beetle in the Scarbaeidae family.

Fairly widespread in England and Wales, but very rare in Scotland, this beetle is often buzzing about during warm summer days. While scattered, where it does occur, this species can be quite common, and can form large swarms in sunny areas. This species has a one year lifecycle.
