The New Forest Burnet (Zygaena viciae) is a species of moth in the Zygaenidae family. Despite it's name, this day-flying species is now extinct in the New Forest. This species is a protected species of a few loactions in Scotland. One of the smallest Burnets, this species has five clear red spots, and has very rounded tips to the forewing. Also paler than other common Burnets. The Five-spot Burnet & Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet are larger than the New Forest Burnet.
