This species can reach a length of 6cm, but is usually much smaller. it can range in colour from yellow-white to a dark muddy brown. This species is found in muddy coasts with sand or rocks, and can be found up to 100m deep, but will migrate to the shore to spawn. This species can be a pest of Oyster beds, as they will feed off them.
