The Surf Scoter (Melanitta perspicillata) is an American duck which is a vagrant to Britain. This species is recorded annually, and mostly the males are recorded.
The males have a bright white and yellow bill, with a white nape patch. The males are a glossy black, and the females are a grey/brown and have a grey bill.
This species has a length of 45-56cm.
