This species is a medium sized geometrid, and rests with it's wings held out. The wings are mostly cream in colour, but have black markings which vary, but is usually mottling near the leading edge from one of the crosslines. There are several fine crosslines, and a dot on each wing. This species flies from May till the end of August.
This species is local in Britain, but appears to be increasing. This species is widespread in southern Britain, and in some places quite common.
The larvae feed on a variety of herbacious plants, as well as Ivy. It appears to feed on withered leaves. The larvea can be seen from August till May.
