The Wild Cherry (Prunus avium), can grow into quite a big tree, and it sends up suckers from the roots, which can cause problems.

The flowers open, and get fertilised by insects. The berries develop, and are ripe by July, when birds start to strip trees of their cherries. The seed, a stone, usually germinates in the second spring after ripening. The seed sends up a stem, the circular seed leaves open, and then normal foliage follows.
