Wych Hazel is a shrub intoduced from China to Britain in the 19th century.
Wych Hazel is a shrub growing up to 10 feet in height with branches which point upwards. Yellow flowers blossom on the tree from December - March though some hybrids developed for gardens have pinkish coloured flowers. The leaves are ocal in shape with a downy underside and are toothed.
The wych hazel is a shrub known for it medicinal properties, the bark, leaves and twigs of the shrub can be distilled and the extrat can prevent inflammation and stop bleeding.
